Applying beeswax, yes, beeswax to your screws before you screw them into wood makes them easier to get in and prevents the wood from splintering and/or breaking. No stripped Phillips slots, no broken off heads, and less arm ache if doing it by hand. You can pick up commercial screw wax at any hardware store or you can make your own by melting down the beeswax and adding a little bit of petroleum jelly to your beeswax. Whichever works for you!
